Game Commission Seeks Owner Of Wallaby Found In Crawford County

CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS, Pa. (KDKA) -- "Is anyone missing a wallaby?"

That's the question Pennsylvania Game Commission officials are asking after one was found Wednesday afternoon on King Road near Cambridge Springs in Crawford County.

Game Commission officials say a wallaby is a member of the marsupial family and looks like a small kangaroo. It's native to Australia and surrounding islands.

According to authorities, the Crawford County wallaby was tranquilized and then taken to a licensed facility until its owner can be found.

In a news release, Sarah Dippold, a former Game Commission biologist aide, said: "My landlord saw it, so I went down and took a photo of it. I forwarded the photo to the Game Commission's Northwest Region office."

So far, officials haven't had any luck figuring out where the animal came from.

But anyone with information about the animal is being asked to call the Northwest Region Office of the Game Commission at 814-432-3187.
