Franklin Park Couple Face Sentencing In Log Homes Tax Fraud
PITTSBURGH (AP) - A Pittsburgh-area couple faces sentencing before a federal judge on a tax fraud charge stemming from their failure to file individual and corporate tax returns for their high-end log home business.
Paul and Lynda Schneider, of Franklin Park, pleaded guilty before a federal judge in Pittsburgh in June and were scheduled for sentencing on Wednesday.
The government says the couple failed to file taxes for themselves and their business, Cedar Direct, from 2006 to 2009. The tax loss was about $80,000 and the Schneiders each face 10 to 16 months in prison, according to federal sentencing guidelines.
Their company, Cedar Direct, is known for its online ads that feature Larry Thomas, the actor who portrayed the "Soup Nazi" on the sitcom "Seinfeld." Thomas is not accused of any wrongdoing.
