Former Teacher Accused Of Assaulting 10-Year-Old
MONONGAHELA (KDKA) -- The overnight arrest of a former Monongahela elementary school teacher has left people shocked and disappointed.
Police say 27-year-old Lloyd Price III sexually assaulted one of his students who was 10 years old at the time in his classroom at the Monongahela Elementary Center.
Most recently, Price was the Ringgold High School athletic director and former football coach. He abruptly resigned from the district nearly a year ago.
"His arrest is very upsetting," Carrie Benitez told KDKA-TV. "I grew up around here, I attended Ringgold. I just never thought something like that would happen around here."
"You just never know, no one knows what [someone] is thinking," Kevin Bodnar, another Mon Valley resident, said.
The girl involved in the attack, now 15, told her parents about the incident last November, and her parents in turn told Monongahela police.
Chief Brian Tempest told KDKA-TV the incidents took place on two separate occasions in Price's 5th grade classroom back in 2005-06.
Price is being held in the Washington County Correctional Facility on $25,000 straight cash bond.
