River Levels Rise After Heavy Rainfall, Impacting Travel On And Along Pittsburgh's Three Rivers
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Overnight flooding caused several roadways and areas to close
Flooded areas like The Point and Mon Wharf parking lot forced roads and access to close. The high water did not cause too much damage, but it was a big nuisance for drivers and pedestrians.
According to the National Weather Service — the Monongahela and Allegheny rivers crested within hours of each other, while the Ohio River crested at just under 23 feet.
Because of the flooding issues, PennDOT decided to close and restrict more than a few sections of roadway in Allegheny, Beaver and Lawrence Counties.
Officials say come Sunday morning, all river levels should be back to normal.
It's also important to note that all it takes is a few inches of water on the road to lift your car. So, turn around, don't drown.
