Firearms-Deer Hunting Season Opens In Pa.
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - It is the day that many hunters wait for all year, the first day of Pennsylvania's firearms-deer season.
Both hunters and processors will be busy as the season starts. Hills and valleys are already filled with the orange clothing of deer hunters.
The parking lots of deer processing plants are filling up as hunters emerge from the woods with their prize.
"About 6 o'clock in a tree, ready to go, waiting for another 40 minutes for daylight. About 8 o'clock I got my first chance to shoot a doe, so I took it," Greg Flaus said.
Inside the processing plant, there's lots of work to be done for their busiest day of the season.
"Starts off a little bit slower in the morning and then right about noon we start getting trucks in here probably every five minutes bringing in deer. Today, we'll probably do over a little over 100 deer," D.J. Lenick said.
It's estimated that 750,000 people will be out hunting in Pennsylvania Monday.
