Dixon Recaps Pitt's Win Over Providence
Pitt Panthers men's basketball coach Jamie Dixon called into the Fan Morning Show after Pitt beat Providence 83-79 on Tuesday. Dixon said he was not surprised with how well Providence played last night.
He said every game is a tough game in the Big East as Providence has beaten, or come close to beating some really good teams this year.
Dixon was pleased with his team's play last night, especially Travon Woodall who rebounded from a slow start to hit a big 3-pointer and key foul shots to pull the game out in the final minute.
Dixon admits that the 1-3-1 zone from Providence was giving his team trouble, but the they learned how to play against it and will be ready if they face it again in the future.
Dixon said this team is finally realizing how good they can be, but there is still plenty of work yet to done. Dixon thinks the team's rebounding needs to improve, although the Panthers lead the nation in rebounding.
Tonight on ESPNU, Dixon will host and all-access show featuring a behind the scenes look at his team and he shared some highlights of the show. However, he is a little scared to see some of the footage that he hasn't seen yet.
