PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — A flight from the Pittsburgh International Airport to Tampa was rescheduled on Thursday while police investigated a bomb threat that was deemed non-credible.

Allegheny County police said they were called to investigate a "security issue" on a Spirit Airlines flight scheduled to depart from Pittsburgh to Tampa.

County police said their investigation determined that no threat was made "and the situation was deemed not criminal in nature."

While police investigated, Bob Kerlik, a spokesperson for the Allegheny County Airport Authority, said passengers were being rescreened and scheduled for a later flight.

"As a final update to the earlier Spirit flight issue, police have cleared the plane. Passengers will be departing for Tampa later today. Law enforcement is continuing to follow up and Spirit is handling the flight arrangements. Airport operations continue to be unaffected," Kerlik said in a statement Thursday afternoon.

The FBI also released a statement, saying it was called in to help with the investigation. The FBI said after a "thorough investigation," the threat was deemed non-credible.

The FBI also encouraged the public to remain vigilant while traveling this holiday season, asking people who see suspicious activity by calling 911, alerting the flight crew or contacting the FBI.

Authorities didn't release any details about the reported threat.
