Children Found Living In Filthy Conditions In Jeannette

JEANNETTE (KDKA) – Two parents wanted by police are now facing additional charges for the conditions their children were living in.

Police went to a house on North Third Street in Jeannette looking for 48-year-old John Weightman who was wanted on a bench warrant and 35-year-old Nicole Crusan who had outstanding traffic warrants.

When they got inside, officers say they found filthy living conditions – dirty clothes, garbage and dog feces throughout the home. There was also no hot water or heat.

Two children, ages 9 and 10, were taken into protective custody.

"I feel bad for the kids," John Kurtz, a neighbor said. He said his grandson goes to school with one of the boys.

"The one boy is a real bright boy," he said. He adds that he parents never showed up to see the boy honored at a school awards ceremony.

"I went over and I hugged him and I congratulated him," Kurtz said.
