Bucco Broadcaster Greg Brown Weighs In On Brawl Suspensions, Wandy Replacement In Rotation

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - Pirates Broadcaster Greg Brown joined Starkey and Mueller to talk about the suspensions Major League Baseball has handed down for the Pirates-Brewers brawl, as well as what will happen to the rotation with Wandy Rodriguez now on the Disabled List.

Starting with the suspensions, Brown weighed in with his thoughts on whether or not the league got it right.

"I do," Brown said. "I kind of expected Snider and Martin to go, and I expected Gomez and Maldonado. Actually I'm happy that Major League Baseball saw what we saw: the sucker punch by Maldonado. I admire him for not appealing it. I think all was fair."

When it comes to the plans for the rotation with Rodriguez on the DL, Brown said Manager Clint Hurdle won't reveal his plans, but he feels confident in speculating who the Manager might be looking at on his list of potential candidates saying, "I will speculate that it's Brandon Cumpton."

While talking about pitching issues, Brown also told us how much longer he thinks the team will stick with Closer Jason Grilli as he has already blown three saves this year.

"I would think that Hurdle is trying to keep Grilli's confidence up, so he is saying all the right things," he said. "I actually talked to Jason Grilli on our pregame show coming up. I think he can't go out there and go out and blow another save right away.  If he does that, then I think there are problems."
