Brush Fire Damages Property In Allegheny Twp.
ALLEGHENY TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- A fast-moving brush fire consumed a storage mobile trailer and two garages in Allegheny Township, Westmoreland County.
One fireman was treated for heat exhaustion.
Lee Schumaker, the Fire-EMS Director in Allegheny Township told KDKA-TV that the fire started when homeowner Tim Fullerton started to burn leaves in his front yard.
But, the wind whipped up, spreading the flames to a nearby trailer. Then flames and embers quickly worked their way uphill to two garages.
Fullerton told KDKA-TV that he tried to extinguish the fire himself, but it spread too fast.
Jokingly, Fullerton said, "Boy, am I going to get hell when my wife gets home."
About a dozen volunteer fire departments from Westmoreland and Armstrong Counties were at the scene.
