Base Jumper Leaps Off Mt. Washington, Lands In Station Square
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Someone took a flying leap off Mt. Washington, landed on a garage in Station Square and lived.
That's because the person was wearing a parachute.
The base jumper decided to use Grandview Avenue as the starting point for a daredevil adventure.
"I was pulling up in the dump truck right here and as I'm pulling up, I see a guy in blue leap off the building and the shoot opens up and he sails right down towards Station Square like it was nothing – like he does it every day or something," an eyewitness told KDKA-TV.
That was probably about the time Pittsburgh police began to receive calls about it. The jump didn't last long, so there little time to respond.
"I seen him for maybe a half a minute and he was gone," another onlooker said.
There was no sign of a parachute on the roof of the Station Square garage, but the thought is that's where the jumper landed and made a clean getaway – at least for now.
The people at Station Square said they weren't aware of what happened until they got a call from Pittsburgh police. They say their security team is investigating the situation.
