2 Men Charged In Fayette County Incident
HILLER (KDKA) -- Two men face criminal charges after what police describe as a demolition derby of sorts in a small Fayette County town.
Thomas Ulery, Jr., 43, said he offered a neighbor and three of her friends a ride home from Jilly's Tavern.
No sooner had the four women hopped into his car, state police said the women wanted to continue partying.
That's when Gary Lee Brackenbury, Jr., of Merritstown, left the same bar and their two vehicles ended up in a demolition derby in Hiller Village Park.
"Climbing some hills – they never gave up," Ulery told KDKA-TV.
"They were right on me – chased me for at least a quarter mile through the woods.
"When I slowed down to make that turn, they must've hit me in the back at least 30-40 miles an hour."
Brackenbury told KDKA-TV the criminal charges were news to him.
"I was just riding as a passenger in the van when we were rear-ended," he said. "I got out to look at the damage to the van and that's when I was ran over."
According to the criminal complaint, Brackenbury was injured. The police report said he was knocked out of his shoes.
"I said I'm sorry, I hope the kid's okay," Ulery said. "Sorry for everything that happened. Hope he's fine."
Both men face charges of aggravated assault and reckless endangerment.
Brackenbury is accused of driving under the influence and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
Ulery is charged with aggravated assault with a motor vehicle.
