The slap was the result of "a rage that had been bottled for a really long time," Smith said, but, "I had to forgive myself for being human."

Smith posted a five-minute-long video on YouTube talking about the incident that went viral.
"I will fully accept any and all consequences for my conduct. My actions at the 94th Academy Awards presentation were shocking, painful, and inexcusable," Smith said in the statement.
