Sunny, unseasonably warm weather in Philadelphia area for Eagles-Broncos game

Whether you're gearing up for a tailgate or just planning to watch the Eagles vs. Broncos game from home, there's plenty of sunshine and warm temperatures on tap for this Sunday in the Philadelphia region.

The temperature at kickoff for the Eagles-Broncos game will be around 79 degrees, nice and warm for those heading out the door and hitting the tailgating lots.

High pressure remains our dominant weather feature and will stick around for a few more days before moving east. This area of high pressure is providing warmer-than-normal conditions across much of the eastern half of the United States, including the Philadelphia area.

The normal high temperature in Philly for this time of year is 71 degrees. Sunday's temps will run more than 10 degrees above normal with highs in the low to mid-80s under mostly sunny skies.

Skies will remain clear Sunday night with some areas of patchy fog developing into early Monday morning. Temperatures on Monday morning will be a little on the cool side with lows in the mid-upper 50s.

These warmer-than-normal conditions will continue through Monday and Tuesday with highs in the low 80s before a cold front approaches late Tuesday night.

Rain returns to the forecast

Ahead of this cold front, showers will start to move through the region as we head into Tuesday night and will likely last into Wednesday morning. At this point, severe weather and flooding are not a concern, but widespread rain with rain totals between 0.25 and 0.50 inches will certainly be beneficial after the recent dry stretch we have had.

As the cold front moves through on Wednesday afternoon, it will begin to usher in much cooler air that will settle in for the second half of the week.

By Thursday afternoon, high temperatures will only be in the mid-upper 60s despite mostly sunny skies. By Friday morning, temperatures will settle in the mid-upper 40s in most areas before warming back into the upper 60s Friday afternoon.
