Police Investigate Two Weekend Hit-And-Runs, One Fatal

(KYW NEWSRADIO 1060) - Accident investigators are trying to find hit-and-run drivers involved in two cases.

KYW's Mike DeNardo reports the most recent case happened Sunday night in Frankford when a Dodge Charger struck two boys who were on the same bicycle and then left the scene.

It happened in the 1100 block of Herbert Street at about 7:45.  The boys, aged 13 and 11, were taken to Saint Christopher's Hospital.

Police do not have a tag number or a more detailed description of the Charger, except to say it had tinted windows.

In the fatal hit-and-run from Saturday night in South Philadlephia, police have released the identities of the victims.  The two-year-old boy who was killed is identified as Derek Martinez.  His mother, who was injured, is 20-year-old Dian Leone.  She's stable at the Hospital if the University of Pennsylvania.

That crash happened at 6th Street and Washington Avenue, and investigators are looking for a Merecedes CLS that did not stop after that crash.
