Study: Taking Ibuprofen Increases Risk Of Miscarriage In Pregnant Women
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - There is a disturbing new study from the Canadian Medical Association Journal. It suggests that the risk of miscarriage more than doubles in women who take non-steroidal, anti-inflammatory drugs or "NSAIDs" during the first 20 weeks of their pregnancy.
Researchers looked at the health records from nearly 50,000 Canadian women. Common anti-inflammatory drugs are ibuprofen and naproxen.
If you're pregnant and you have taken non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications early in the pregnancy, there is no reason to panic. However, you should hold off at this point and check with your physician for other options that are out there, especially as this is being looked into and other studies are being done.
