High School Students Compete For Scholarships At Local Automotive Technology Competition
WARMINSTER, Pa., (CBS) -- Twenty-four high school seniors competed in the Local Automotive Technology Competition, solving different car problems thrown their way.
"At the end of the process, there is a total of 900-thousand dollars in scholarships available to the students," Stephen Kelly is Director of the Competition.
He says the kids are paired into teams, and square off against other local students. Kelly says team-work is key.
"The dreaded ghost in the machine can occur and you really do need to go through a very methodical process to get through to fix the problem, and those teams that do that are generally going to finish in the top 3 or 4 groups," he said.
This year's winners:
1st – Michael Steinmetz & Sean Hagerty from Eastern Center for Arts & Technology in Willow Grove
2nd – Devon Henrie & Daniel Chandler from Berks Career and Technology Center – East in Oley
3rd – William Pitt & Aaron Bowers of Gloucester County Institute of Technology in Sewell, N.J.
The winning duo from Eastern Center for Arts & Technology in Willow Grove will head to Nationals in March, to represent the Greater Philadelphia region.
