Some Parking Rates At PHL Airport To Rise By A Buck

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The board of the Philadelphia Parking Authority has voted to raise the price for parking at the airport, but only in some spots and for some periods of time.

If you think you heard not all that long ago about parking costing more, you're at the root of this increase.  PPA spokeswoman Linda Miller:

"Last year, when the City of Philadelphia increased the parking tax from 15 percent to 20 percent, at the airport we only adjusted part of the rates, for the two-hours-or-more stays."

So now, as of November 1st, those short-term stays of under two hours will see the boost that many other drivers already had to pay.  The increase in most cases will be one dollar.

Also going up will be the cost of parking all day in the short term, ground level lot.  That'll cost $40, up from $38, but Miller says that's more a discouragement factor than a tax.
