Sixers Agree To Terms With Richaun Holmes

By Ray Boyd

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Sixers have agreed to terms on a contract with rookie forward Richaun Holmes. The deal was announced on Friday afternoon.

Holmes was selected in the second round (37 overall) of the 2015 NBA Draft by the Sixers out of Bowling Green.

He garnered attention in Summer League action for the Sixers. He appeared in three games during the Utah Jazz Summer League. He averaged 10 points and five rebounds while playing 17 minutes per contest.

His ability to knock down an open three certainly resonated with those who watched the young forward play.

Holmes, 21, was a 55 percent shooter and Bowling Green. He is the all-time blocks leader in school history (244) and was the first player at the school to score 1,000 points, have 600 rebounds and 200 blocks.

Richaun Holmes will compete for minutes as a part of a crowded Sixers front-court that includes first round pick Jahlil Okafor and the additions of veterans Carl Landry and Jason Thompson from the Kings.
