Police: Gunman Fires At Car From Five Feet Away, Injures 19-Year-Old Woman
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia Police responded to several 911 calls on Wednesday night stemming from a 19-year-old woman who was shot in the arm while sitting in her car. The incident took place shortly before 8:00 p.m. on the 1400 block of N. 19th Street.
Authorities say the woman was sitting in the driver seat of the car, while her boyfriend sat in the passenger seat. Police say a gunman approached the vehicle and fired six shots into the car from a semi-automatic weapon.
Officials say the suspect fired the shots from just five feet away from the car. Authorities say four of the shots struck the car, while three of them went into the driver side window. One struck the woman in the arm. She was transported to Jefferson University Hospital and is in stable condition.
Authorities add that the boyfriend of the victim fled the scene when shots were fired. Police say they know who the boyfriend is, but are looking for him to question him about the incident.
Police describe the suspect as a male wearing all dark clothing (dark baseball cap, dark pants and a dark sweatshirt). Authorities say he fled on foot and may have gotten into a tan vehicle.
