Philadelphia Technology Park Debuts At The Navy Yard

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The ribbon has been cut for the debut of the Philadelphia Technology Park, a new data center located in the navy yard. The $25 million facility is engineered to meet a company's IT requirements, so an organization can grow business, knowing its data is secure, according to company president Corey Blanton.

"We eliminate the potential for companies to have any fear, uncertainty or doubt about the security of their IT infrastructure," said Blanton.

Company chairman Tom Cunningham says they can handle companies large and small. He points out the world's second largest law firm, which tried to build its own data center out west, gave it up, and is now a client at their Baltimore technology park.

"They realized their core competency was in lawyering, and ours is in data center management," said Cunningham.

Mayor Nutter had some fun talking about collocation, fully redundant servers, and bandwidth.

"I know some people in this audience know what those things are about, but as long as you're talking about jobs, we're talking the same language," said Nutter.
