Philadelphia opens 1st pool of the season, reveals opening dates for city swimming pools
The heat is on, but so is the running water.
Philadelphia is ready for summer and opened its first public pools of the season on Friday. The John B. Kelly Pool in Fairmount Park and the Hunting Park Pool were the first ones to open.
Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker took part in the ceremonial first plunge, and Philly Parks and Rec announced a tiered opening schedule for more than 60 neighborhood pools starting Friday.
The pools will open on a rolling basis throughout the summer, starting Friday, June 12, and will continue through Monday, July 6.

Subsequent pool openings will be added to phila.gov/ppr.
The city says public pools provide an opportunity to cool off, learn how to swim and give yourself a "vacation" without breaking the bank.
All pools will again offer swim lessons for more than 6,000 summer campers enrolled in Parks & Recreation programs. Free lessons for children will also be available at select sites.
