Pennsylvania Ballet

Since it was founded in 1963, Pennsylvania Ballet has been at the forefront of American dance. Currently, the company employs 37 dancers and has a six-show season, including its annual holiday production of George Balanchine's The Nutcracker. The Pennsylvania Ballet's diverse repertoire of both classic and contemporary productions—with a Balanchine base—has earned it national acclaim, and the Company regularly tours up and down the East Coast.

Who is George Balanchine? George Balanchine was one of the most famous 20th century ballet choreographers and the founder of the New York City Ballet. He often worked with the legendary composer Igor Stravinsky, and 39 of his 400 ballets are choreographed to Stravinsky's music.
