Paying More For A Partridge In A Pear Tree
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The annual analysis of the "Twelve Days of Christmas" song finds the price of true love has gone up quite a bit.
"On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me....." Well, you better hope it's not the bill.
From partridges to lords a'leaping, many things on this famous list have gone up -- as measured in the PNC Christmas Price Index -- 9.2 percent, and, says James Dunigan, managing executive of investments for PNC Wealth Management, even more if you buy things as often as they're repeated.
Dunigan says, "By the second-largest amount since we've been tracking this for the last 27 years. The true cost of Christmas is up 10.8% for a total of $96,824."
Dunigan says French hens, turtle doves and those gold rings led the price hikes, and four items stayed the same, including maids a-milking who didn't see a minimum wage boost. Maybe a Christmas bonus.
