Officials Revise Some Snow Totals For January Blizzard In East Coast Cities
By Kim Glovas
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Official snow totals from the January blizzard have been revised at some cities along the East Coast, after some people questioned the numbers reported originally.
CBS 3 Meteorologist Katie Fehlinger says Philadelphia's number was 22.4 inches, and that stands, but the count in Newark was changed.
"They were measuring every single hour and that's not the FAA approved way to do it. So that's part of the reason that they decided, okay, we're going to just call this invalid and they're going to go back and basically, use some sort of scientific method to try to figure out what the actual total was."
New York's Central Park number was revised upward to 27.5 from the original 26.8.
And Reagan International was found to be accurate at the original 17.8, disappointing folks there.
"A lot of perhaps the anger that came with the Reagan thing, was maybe, there was so much snow falling everywhere else, why can't we get in on it, 'cause you do, we meteorologists tend to geek out on these things, that's for sure."
