Travelers power through rainy Philadelphia weather to enjoy Memorial Day weekend plans

Instead of sandals and t-shirts many people from the city to the Shore were bundled-up dodging rain drops.

It was a dreary, damp start to Memorial Day Weekend. There was a chill on the air, a small breeze, and the rain continued to fall on and off Friday night.

"I wore my favorite sneakers and didn't realize it was going to rain," said Laura McMullin, who lives in Maryland.

Most were hoping for sunny skies this holiday weekend, but they aren't going let this weather rain on their parade and they plan to go with the flow.

"I can't change the weather," said Ella Moser of Germantown. "I have my umbrella in my bag and that's about it I'm ready."

"Rain happens, it's weather, but we are here so it will be good, " said Laura McMullin. She says she is in the city for a conference and they are trying to fit in some fun things when there is a lull in the rain.

Many people said they had BBQ plans and they are not sure how that's going to turn out, but they are looking forward to spending time with family this holiday weekend.

Ant Brown says he may be indoors more than he thought this weekend , but it happy to be family and friends and hopes maybe the sun will peak through.

"We got past the winter time, so now it's nice and we are looking forward to it continuing to be nice and sunny, but hopefully we get through this rain," Brown said
