Local Teen Supports "Ride For Kids" From School

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Hundreds of motorcyclists will rev up their engines Sunday morning for the 8th Annual "Philadelphia Ride for Kids."
A motorcycle ride, starting at Valley Forge Christian College in Phoenixville, will benefit those like 18-year-old Giselle Bartolo from King of Prussia.
"In January 2010 I was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor," Bartolo explained.
She had successful surgery a month later and wanted to give back.
Her family joined "Ride for Kids" with money collected going towards The Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation which provides research and scholarships for those like Giselle, now a freshman at Emory University in Atlanta.
"I'm incredibly appreciative; I'll say that, as is everyone I know who's been fortunate enough to receive one of these scholarships," said Bartolo.
Registration opens at 8 a.m., the ride begins at 10 a.m. and the minimum donation to ride is $35.
Last year's event took in $91,000. Giselle may be away at school but the ride remains close to her heart.
"I've got my family going and I've put things on Facebook about it and everything. So, [I'm]doing my part from Georgia," said Bartolo.
