Jet Blue Plays Its Hand In Democracy With New "Reach Across The Isle" Ad

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – As presidential hopefuls are battling it out in the polls, Jet Blue took to the skies to put to test the true boundaries of democracy.

On a flight from Boston to Phoenix, the airline performed a social experiment to see if passengers could reach across the aisle, and make a decision that would affect their lives, together. The experiment turned out to be a commercial titled "Reach Across The Aisle".

On the flight a Jet Blue spokesperson offered each of the 150 passengers a free round-trip ticket to any destination in the world.

So what's the catch?

All of the passengers, who were seemingly strangers to one another, had to unanimously agree on one destination. Something the world of politics shows us daily, is no easy task.

First round of voting determined the race would be between Turks and Caicos and Costa Rica.

The passengers lobbied, citing factors like stretch of the dollar, fun activities, and beautiful sights to behold.  While contrasting opinions were common, just like in the upcoming presidential election, a winner triumphed.

In the end, all 150 passengers made a decision to go to Costa Rica. While not everyone got what they voted for, one might say that in this case, everyone was a winner.
