Down the Shore: Fried Oreo Cookies

Fried Oreo cookies are served hot at bakeries, and are hot-selling on the Jersey shore:
(customer) "The fried Oreos are fantastic even if you don't like oreos."
What is a fried Oreo?
(Carol) "It's the Oreo cookie with a funnel cake topping on it, then fried, and the oreo cookie melts inside the dough."
Carol Ferrara of Ferrara's Island Bakery says bakers experimented a good bit with fried foods before discovering what brings customers back:
"We tried fried Twinkies, but they didn't take off as well as the Oreos."
