11-Year-Old Boy Accidentally Shoots Himself In The Face In South Phila.
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A tragic accident in South Philadelphia.
An 11-year-old boy was critically injured after police say he accidentally shot himself in the face.
It happened just after midnight on the 2600 block of South Hicks Street in South Philadelphia.
The boy was home with his mother, father, and four other siblings at the time.
Police say he got into his parent's room and somehow got his hands on a revolver.
"We have five young, very young children in a house, and there is a gun in the house," said Philadelphia Police Chief Insp. Scott Small. "It's very important that the gun be in a safe location where children don't have access to it."
The little boy is conscious and is expected to survive. He has since been listed in stable condition.
