Baby Struck By Car In North Philadelphia Dies From Injuries

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The baby boy who fell out of an SUV and was struck by a car last weekend died Tuesday from his injuries, according to police.

The baby, identified as 22-month-old Jasir Clark, had been recovering at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children since Sunday's accident in North Philadelphia.

Authorities said the baby was unrestrained in the back seat of a Chevrolet Trailblazer making a left turn onto Fox Street when the door opened and the child fell out. A car behind the SUV struck the boy moments later (see related story).

Authorities said the driver of the car that struck the baby accompanied the victim and the driver of the Chevrolet to the hospital.

No charges have been filed at this time. The investigation continues.
