Philadelphia Eagles WR A.J. Brown says stolen car already recovered: "We've already got the whip"
The car that Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown reported stolen overnight was found in Camden, New Jersey, by police, according to authorities.
On Monday morning, Brown took to social media in now-deleted social media posts on Instagram and X, reporting someone stole his car overnight in the Philadelphia area. In a video posted to Instagram Stories, Brown said his car was stolen shortly before 3:45 a.m.
"You smooth though," Brown said in the now-deleted Instagram Stories video. "You pulled up at 3:42. You got up out of there at 3:45. You're fast on your feet."
Brown, who lives in South Jersey, reported the stolen car on Instagram and his X account, stating that he would not press charges if the vehicle is returned.
"C'mon Philly. C'mon, man. You stole my whip last night. C'mon, man. I'll make a deal with you, bro. To whoever you are. Which I'm going to find out soon. I'll make a deal with you, bro. Just bring the whip back, bro. I won't press charges, bro," Brown said in the video. "Just bring the whip back, bro, and you can go on about your day. But if I find you, c'mon, bro. It's going to be what it's going to be. And I'm going to come in the interrogation room, I might see about you, my boy, I'm on that. Just bring the whip back, bro."
A couple of hours later, Brown posted another video to his Instagram Stories, stating that they had already found the car.
"I'm out here grinding for the Philadelphia Eagles, and I've got to look for my car. But see, we've already got the whip. I told you to just turn the car back in, and now you've got to deal with the consequences, man," Brown said in the video. "I'll tell y'all a funny joke. This morning, when I was talking to the police, my little son comes up and goes 'Da-da, Paw Patrol!' I said, 'Everybody's got jokes this morning.' Now the joke's on you."
Brown then changed his X profile picture to Chase from "Paw Patrol" and tweeted a thumbs-up emoji.
CBS News Philadelphia obtained the alert that was sent to those in the same South Jersey neighborhood. It said, in part, "A single suspect was captured on surveillance cameras at 3:42 [a.m.] entering an unlocked vehicle parked in the driveway."
A police report stated that the vehicle was a Mercedes, valued at $250,000.
"I believe he had the tracker," Camden County Deputy Chief Janell Simpson said. "Those types of vehicles you can track location, so that is very helpful for law enforcement when we conduct our investigations, to where they can call in the real-time location and then we can follow up to confirm if it's there or not."
Police located the car in Camden. The suspect fled, but police officers were able to arrest him quickly. He was charged with receiving stolen property and resisting arrest, according to Camden County police.
By noon, the stolen Mercedes had been returned to Brown's house.
"Big Dom" DiSandro, the Philadelphia Eagles' head of security, was seen leaving the house after checking on Brown.
