Police Probe Fatal Stabbing In Bridesburg

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A mother is dead and a grandmother is critically wounded after a stabbing inside a home in the city's Bridesburg section early Friday morning.

The incident happened around 6:10 a.m. in the 2800 block of Reynolds Street.

The deceased victim, a female in her 50s, was stabbed multiple times in the face and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 74-year-old woman, also stabbed in the face and body, was taken to Aria Torresdale Hospital where she's in critical condition.

Police also say an 18-year-old, the son of the deceased woman, suffered cuts to his hand. He told police someone broke in and stabbed them, leaving the knife behind.

Investigators say the 18-year-old is being questioned in connection with the stabbing.

The deadly stabbing remains under investigation.
