Source: ER Doctors Found Visible Signs Of Trauma On Staten Island Toddler

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The death of a 16-month-old boy on Staten Island has been deemed suspicious, sources said Monday.

Residents of 195 Steuben St. in the Park Hill section of Staten Island said little Anthony Delgado was a sweet toddler well taken care of by his mother and grandmother.

"They're good people, and they're responsible with the kids," a neighbor told 1010 WINS Samantha Liebman.

On Sunday night, Anthony was pronounced dead at Staten Island University Hospital with visible signs of trauma after a neighbor watched the boy.

"These young people are having babies and then just leaving them," a neighbor said, "You gotta be very careful who you leave your children with."

A source told 1010 WINS that the death has been deemed suspicious. The boy had been left with the babysitter for two days.

The New York City Medical Examiner's office will determine the cause of death.

A source told 1010 WINS that the babysitter was brought in for questioning, but had not been charged.
