More women report being randomly attacked while walking in New York City
NEW YORK -- Police are searching for another suspect in the pattern of random attacks on women in New York City.
CBS New York's Ali Bauman spoke exclusively to one victim, who says the wounds are still very fresh.
"I didn't know what to do or how to react," victim Eliana Benigar said.
Benigar was walking on 96th and Broadway on Thursday afternoon when she says a hooded man came up and randomly punched her in the chest.
"It was like a zombie walking and just punched me and just kept walking, out of nowhere," she said.
Benigar is one of dozens of women sharing their stories online, and to police, of being randomly punched on New York City sidewalks in recent weeks.
Surveillance video captures the moment Anika Hartje was attacked in February.
"I could sense on my right side that someone was quickly approaching from the other side of the street. And I had literally one second to look, and then I got punched in the side of my head," she said.
Police sources tell us the NYPD is investigating all of these reported attacks as similar, but right now, it appears there may be multiple people behind them and they don't appear to be connected.
Police have arrested Skiboky Stora for at least one of the attacks on women, and sources tell us he is a suspect in several others.
Investigators are also searching for another suspect, who they say punched a 24-year-old woman in the head in Midtown on Tuesday afternoon.
"I don't feel safe walking next to somebody in the street," Benigar said.
Police are urging anyone with information, or who may have been a victim, to contact the NYPD.
