Cruz Will Appear On New Jersey Ballot Despite Challenge

TRENTON, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Following a challenge, an official has ruled that U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz will appear on the New Jersey Republican presidential primary ballot.

Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno issued a final decision Wednesday.

The Texas Republican faced challenges to his appearance on the June 7 ballot from Catholic University of America law professor Victor Williams and the South Jersey Concerned Citizens Committee.

The challengers questioned whether Cruz was a natural-born citizen because he was born in Canada.

On Tuesday, a judge ruled that Cruz meets the constitutional requirements to be president and can appear on the ballot.

Cruz was born to a Cuban father and American mother. He is a U.S. citizen.

Guadagno had the final say on the matter, accepting the judge's ruling.
