Despite a chorus of former top intelligence officials rebuking President Trump's decision to strip former CIA Director John Brennan of his security clearance, the president doubled down Friday morning, threatening to "quickly" revoke the security clearance of Justice Department official Bruce Ohr next.

President Trump's comments came as he departed for a fundraiser in New York, where the president hopes to raise millions in contributions for the Trump Victory Fund. The president has aggressively fundraised and campaigned in recent months for Republican candidates around the country, playing a leading role in defending GOP control of the House and Senate.

On Tuesday, Trump-aligned candidates notched primary wins, including Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach finally securing the Republican gubernatorial nomination after last week's neck-and-neck results.

The primaries also set the stage for potentially historic elections this fall in Connecticut, Vermont, Minnesota and Wisconsin. An increasingly diverse roster of Democrats are vying for wins in November, including a record number of women and veterans.

Our CBS News Battleground Tracker has been keeping tabs on the competitive race for Democrats fighting to flip the House and Senate. In June, CBS News estimated a toss-up in the House, with 219 seats in Democratic control and 216 in GOP hands.
