Jon Voight "very happy" Brad Pitt is officially his son-in-law

Jon Voight was not in attendance when his daughter, Angelina Jolie, married Brad Pitt last weekend in France, but he did have something to say about it.

On Friday, the "Ray Donovan" star expressed his happiness for the longtime couple, who have been together since 2005 and have six children.

"I'm very happy that I can now legitimately call [Pitt] my son-in-law, this wonderful fellow who I love, and that they're very happy," Voight told ITV's "Good Morning Britain." "The kids must have had a wonderful time at the wedding because they all had their things to do."

Voight, 75, added, "It must have been very beautiful. I'm very happy for them."

Pitt, 50, has already been seen wearing his wedding ring (at a photo call for his new movie "Fury" in England) and he and Jolie, 39, are reportedly now prepping for their upcoming movie "By the Sea" in Malta.

"She's working now with Brad, and I've got a couple of things to do, too," Voight said. "But as soon as we can, we'll get together -- it's going to be exciting."

His comments follow a statement released Thursday -- the day the couple's marriage was announced to the world -- in which he said of the wedding: "It seems like it was a beautiful, simple ceremony with all the kids involved. Must have been a lot of fun. I am very happy for them."
