Eric Holder pitches Hillary Clinton's experience in first SC TV ad

Former Attorney General Eric Holder is featured in Hillary Clinton's first TV ad to air in South Carolina for her 2016 presidential campaign.

"I've known her for almost 25 years," Holder said in the 30-second ad. "This is a woman who's fought her whole life for children, to protect civil rights, voting rights and today Hillary is pushing hard for tougher gun laws and police accountability."

"If you want to make sure Republicans don't take us backward, help Hillary move us forward," he adds.

The ad, which will begin airing this week, is part of the campaign's buy in Charleston, Columbia, Greenville-Spartanburg and Florence-Myrtle Beach.

Holder, the first black attorney general, served in President Obama's cabinet with Clinton when she served as secretary of state. Holder resigned from the administration last April and is now a partner at law firm Covington & Burling. He officially endorsed Clinton for the Democratic nomination in January.

After a tight race in Monday's Iowa caucuses between Clinton and her rival Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vermont, Clinton has moved on to New Hampshire to prepare for next Tuesday's primary.

South Carolina will hold its Democratic primary on Feb. 27.

According to the latest voter registration numbers on South Carolina's Election Commission website, 28 percent of all registered voters in the state are black. Data collected by The New York Times during the 2008 primary showed that 55 percent of the Democratic vote were black voters.
