The fight to keep mining away from the Boundary Waters
In January, the U.S. House narrowly passed the bill from GOP Rep. Pete Stauber to overturn the mining ban near the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness in north Minnesota. On Wednesday, lawmakers including DFL U.S. Sen. Tina Smith, environmental groups and BWCA outfitters gathered at the State Capitol to sound the alarm.
