Following last weekend's aptly nicknamed "aurora BUST-ealis," the northern lights actually made an appearance in Minnesota overnight.
"Bottom line, the CME (coronal mass ejection) hit us but it was traveling slower than forecasted so it arrived closer to daylight hours and appears to be more of a glancing blow than a direct hit," Rice said. "In a word, it was a bust."
Though it could be hard to see the lights in the metro area due to light pollution, Meteorologist Mike Augustyniak shared some tips for the best way to see the aurora.
