This week, everybody is in action and most teams will be playing their first games of the season. For a lot of players, it's the first chance to run out on the field as a varsity football player under the Friday night lights. It's a thrill for any high school football player.
High school football kicks off Thursday night, and the storyline this week has been all about the heat.
For as many as 21 Minnesota football teams, they've been practicing for two full weeks now, and all that hard work will be on display Friday night. It's "Zero Week" in prep football around the state, meaning that high school football is already kicking off officially.

That means teams have gone from tryouts to solidifying rosters and getting ready for that all-important season opener. This year, the St. Paul City Conference appears to be Central's for the taking.
