Twins right-hander Ricky Nolasco is being sent back to Minnesota because of a sore right elbow. Nolasco is scheduled to have his elbow examined on Tuesday and undergo an MRI. Twins assistant general manager Rob Antony said Nolasco (5-7) met with manager Ron Gardenhire on Monday before the series opener against the Seattle Mariners and told him he had felt pain all season.
Minnesota Timberwolves prospects have started preparation for the NBA Summer League. The Wolves have scheduled four days of practice at Target Center before the team's contingent travels to Las Vegas. The sessions include a free-and-open-to-the-public scrimmage on Wednesday night. The first game for the Wolves in the annual young-player showcase in Nevada is on Saturday afternoon.
The Minnesota Twins will send top pitching prospect Alex Meyer to the Futures Game at the All-Star events at Target Field next week. MLB announced Monday that Meyer will replace fellow right-hander and Triple-A Rochester teammate Trevor May at the exhibition Sunday. May has been out for more than a week with a strained right calf muscle.

Walk onto Keller Golf Course in Maplewood, Minn. and you can practically feel the history rising up from the bentgrass. Charles scored a career-high 32 points to lead the Liberty to an 87-80 win over Maya Moore and the defending champion Minnesota Lynx on Sunday. "We're starting to play better and I'm being more aggressive doing what my team needs," said Charles, who had 28 points in the Liberty's previous game.
The Minnesota Timberwolves announced Sunday their roster for the upcoming NBA Summer League in Las Vegas. The Timberwolves will open a three-game preliminary schedule in Las Vegas on July 12 against the Dallas Mavericks.

All-Star game appearances are special, as Minnesota native Terry Steinbach knows. In 1988 he was voted into his first All-Star game, and he was hitting just 217. But that night it didn't matter for him or his home town of New Ulm, Minn. Steinbach remembers it well what it meant to be named to the All-Star team.
