Woman Pleads Guilty To Massive Prescription Drug Fraud

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) - An Eyota, Minnesota, woman has pleaded guilty to fraudulently acquiring prescription drugs.

Nanci Mae Dusso, 50, may have gotten more than 6,000 prescription opiates over the last seven years by giving more than 150 doctors offices false names, dates of birth and social security numbers.

She pleaded guilty Thursday in U.S. District Court to fraud and social security fraud.

"Prescription drug abuse is both a crime and a serious health problem in Minnesota," U.S. Attorney Andrew Luger said in a statement. "This defendant deceived doctors and nurses in multiple states in order to obtain these powerful opioids."

Authorities started investigating Dusso after a Mayo Clinic nurse practitioner became suspicious.
