Vikings Re-Sign Running Back Matt Asiata
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Minnesota Vikings announced Wednesday that they've re-signed running back Matt Asiata.
Asiata has appeared in 58 career games, including 10 starts, over four seasons with the Vikings. He took on a pivotal role two seasons ago after Adrian Peterson's suspension and scored nine touchdowns to go along with 570 rushing yards. He also had 44 catches for 312 yards and a touchdown that season.
Last season in a reserve role, Asiata had 112 yards on 29 carries and had 19 catches for 132 yards in 16 games.
He's expected to be a back-up running back to Peterson this season along with Jerick McKinnon.
