Vikings' Cook Arrested After Argument
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Minnesota Vikings cornerback Chris Cook was arrested Saturday evening after an argument with a neighbor in his hometown of Lynchburg, Va.
Around 4 p.m. Saturday, Cook and a neighbor engaged in a verbal argument, in which the neighbor claimed Cook pointed a gun at him. The neighbor reported the incident to a civil officer.
According to the Lynchburg Police Department, a citizen can go directly to a civil officer, or magistrate, and swear that a criminal incident took place and the magistrate can formally charge a person without an intermediary (such as an attorney) being involved. This is what occurred in this situation.
Cook was charged with brandishing a weapon and a court date was set. Cook's arraignment hearing is set for 1 p.m., March 21.
He was arrested and transported to the Blue Ridge Adult Detention Facility, but it is not clear if he was held there before being released.
Cook was said to have been cooperative and was arrested without incident.
