MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- This is the time of year when high school seniors check their mailboxes and in-boxes for college acceptance letters.

But some students hoping to get into a Wisconsin school this year may find out in a "snap."

University of Wisconsin-Green Bay's admissions team is taking advantage of the social media craze.

Students will get a traditional packet letting them know they've been accepted, but this year they'll also get a message on Snapchat.

"They would definitely get a snap before they'd get their mail packet," said Michelle Clemens of UW-Green Bay's admissions office. "Students get the snaps pretty immediately because it's a place where they are. They spend a lot of time there!"

The school says it can see when a student sees their message.

Many of the admitted students have been posting screen shots with their acceptance snap.
