U Of M Building Evacuated After Chemical Explosion
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The University of Minnesota's Smith Hall was evacuated Friday afternoon after a chemical explosion.
The incident happened at the building on the 200 block of Pleasant Street Southeast.
Authorities said that a student was inside a lab when the explosion happened.
That student was taken to a local hospital. Authorities said the person's injuries were not life-threatening.
As of 4:15 p.m., the hall had reopened. The lab remained closed for cleaning.
