Sunday's Snow Won't Stick Around, Cold Front Coming
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Minnesotans woke up Sunday morning to the surprise of a winter wonderland, with inches of thick, wet snow blanketing the roads, sidewalks and tree branches.
Meteorologist Mike Augustyniak said Mora, a community about 70 miles north of Minneapolis, saw the biggest snow totals, with about 4.6 inches, according to data submitted to the WCCO Weather Watcher Network.
Further south, the Twin Cities metro saw about 3 inches of snow, as did Rochester, the Weather Watcher data shows.
Augustyniak says the snow won't stick around too long, as highs Sunday and Monday will be above freezing. However, a much colder stretch of weather is in store for the rest of the week.
A cold front is expected to move in overnight Monday, dropping temperatures below freezing. Wind chills Tuesday morning will be in the single digits in northwestern Minnesota, and it'll feel like the teens in the Twin Cities.
The more wintry temperatures are forecasted to stick around for the remainder of the week. Get ready to bundle up.
