Source: Flip Saunders Declines Gophers Coaching Offer
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Flip Saunders has declined the offer to coach the Gopher men's basketball team, Mike Max has confirmed after talking to a school source.
Saunders, a former Gopher and an NBA coach who previously led the Timberwolves, Pistons and Wizards, was a fan-favorite to fill the vacancy left after Tubby Smith was fired by Gopher Athletic Director Norwood Teague.
